While preserving the integrity of the existing remains of four brick walls, this urban hostel revives and extends its character into a repurposed, hybrid gathering place.
These beautiful, faded brick walls are the remains of an automobile manufacturing building in this neighborhood. The goal of this proposal was to preserve the brick and retain its charm in our urban hostel structures. In this particular proposal, these four walls stand as a shell protecting a hub of activity and gathering which includes an indoor courtyard. The rest of the hostel folds out beyond this origin, offering a modern contrast to the sharp, hard characteristics of the brick with smooth fillets and curves.
