The Museum of Weather started with extensive research on the shoreline conditions of the Allegheny river of Pittsburgh, PA, and the surrounding area of Sharpsburg. With the combination of blackwater being released directly into the river waters during periods of overflow and vigorous growth and spread of Japanese knotweed, a highly invasive species, the shorelines of focus are subject to areas of pollution and deterioration. Below are graphic visualizations of the collected data and analysis that take into consideration current accessibility to the riverfront, flood plains, concentrations of Japanese knotweed, sewage outlet points surrounding our site of Six Mile Island.
Taking this research, an "eco-machine" that would propose a solution was designed as a base for what the Museum of Weather would be designed around.
